Club AccreditationThose of us who run clubs, junior clubs or sections in particular, are only too aware of some of the dreadful things that have happened to a few children at the hands of some of those purporting to provide junior sport activities. Fortunately, the extremes of such incidences are rare. However, we are sure all would agree that we are aiming for junior clubs to offer higher standards of safety, fairness, coaching and management. Indeed, partly as a result of parent pressure, the government through Sport England have instituted an accreditation scheme for clubs that address these issues. The Sport England scheme is called 'Clubmark' and BADMINTON England have signed up to it and the standards it comprises: The Playing Programme Duty of care and child protection Sports equity and ethics Club management.
BADMINTON England have modified the generic Clubmark scheme to make it appropriate to our sport's needs and have called the scheme 'Club Future.' There are 2 areas of Club Future:- Foundation Clubs: Those clubs without separate junior sections. The criteria for achieving Foundation Club status is less extensive, although it does still contain aspects of child protection as adult clubs may also contain some junior members.- Premier Clubs: Those clubs with separate junior sections. This criteria includes ALL the Foundation Club criteria and some additional requirements particularly towards safety and child protection. If your club wants to ensure a safe environment for its players, coaches and volunteers, please get in touch with the development office to find out more about the Club Future scheme.
