Disability Badminton

Wheelchair Badminton

With the support from Isle of Man Sport, the Isle of Man Badminton Associationpurchased two Badminton Wheelchairs to help improve access to Badminton for individuals with physical disabilities and / or health related issues.

On Saturday 30th August 2014, The Isle of Man Badminton Association in partnership with Manx Sport and Recreation’s Sports Development Unit facilitated a Wheelchair Badminton Workshop designed for badminton coaches, volunteers, wheelchair badminton players and beginners.

This workshop aimed to equip candidates with the skills and drills to make their sessions fully inclusive for individuals with disabilities (Wheelchair Badminton). The 12 candidates learnt the basic rules of the game as well as adaptations and activities that can be delivered within their current badminton sessions.

By obtaining these Badminton Wheelchairs and through the delivery of this Badminton Wheelchair workshop allows the Association, local clubs and members of the public to participate in fully inclusive badminton sessions and initiatives.
