UK Badminton Coach Visits the IOM

Over the weekend of 16th/17th June the IOM Badminton Association were pleased to welcome Phil Aspinall to the Island. Phil is a Level 2 Badminton Coach who has coached at BADMINTON England’s high performance centres in Leeds and Manchester. Alongside this he has also been involved in coaching international badminton players.

During his visit Phil worked with the Senior squad on the Friday evening in preparation for the Island Games. On Saturday two sessions were offered to the Island Junior squads with up to 20 attendees at each, with Sunday morning a session was offered to all badminton club members to gain some specific coaching and experience. All sessions throughout the weekend were available to qualified coaches and young leaders to attend as a mentoring opportunity as well as the chance to ask Phil any questions.

As part of the weekend Phil will provide the Association with a tailored badminton coaching programme for both squad and club use, something that will be instrumental to the development of our players and coaches.

The weekend was a great success and hopefully the start of an effective working relationship with Phil Aspinall to continue to support the Island’s players and coaches.
