Isle of Man Badminton Squads
To ensure a fun and respectful environment for everyone, you must adhere to the following code of conduct:
1. Punctuality:
Please arrive on time for training as per the allotted start time of your squad and allow enough time for you to change shoes, refill water bottles etc so you are ready to start on time.
Please notify a coach if you’re running late or unable to attend as this allows us to plan the sessions better.
2. Proper Attire:
Please wear appropriate sportswear for training, this includes a suitable pair of court shoes to ensure safety and comfort during play. Outdoor shoes should not be worn for training.
3. Encourage Each Other:
Support your teammates with positive words and actions.
Celebrate each other’s successes, whether big or small.
4. Respect for All:
Treat coaches, fellow players, opponents, and officials with respect and courtesy.
Avoid negative comments, taunting, or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
5. Fair Play:
Play by the rules of badminton and exhibit good sportsmanship.
Accept wins and losses gracefully, learning from both experiences.
6. Safety First:
Prioritise safety at all times, both on and off the court.
Never walk across or stand too close to the courts when they are in active use.
Follow safety instructions provided by coaches and supervisors.
7. Equipment Care:
Handle all badminton equipment and facilities with care, please be respectful of the equipment provided like nets, shuttles and other training aids.
Report any damaged equipment or hazards to the coach or a responsible adult.
8. Stay Hydrated:
To keep yourself adequately hydrated during training, please make sure you have with you enough liquids to last throughout the session. Water bottles can be refilled at the fountain outside the sportshall.
9. Communication:
Maintain open and honest communication with coaches and fellow players.
Share any concerns or ideas that can benefit the team.
10. Be Kind and Inclusive:
– Be inclusive and welcoming to new members.
– We will not tolerate any form of discrimination, bullying, or exclusion.
11. Listen and Learn:
– Pay attention during coaching sessions and actively work to improve your skills.
– Be open to feedback and constructive criticism.
Players who misbehave, or who show no interest in learning, will be given a verbal warning by the coach. A second incident will result in the parent/guardian being contacted and the child may be removed from the squad completely.
12. Responsibility:
– Take responsibility for your actions, on and off the court.
– Always uphold the values and reputation of our Junior Badminton Squad.
13. Squad and tournament fees:
All players must pay any fees for training and events promptly or by the due date. If you have any concerns over being able to make payments, please speak to one of the coaches.
By following this code of conduct, we can create a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone in our squad. Let’s have a great time playing badminton and growing together as a team!
